As February comes to a finish there are many who are delighted as the beginning for some of spring and all its beautiful colouring in new blooms and the beginning of life in the shrubs are at the start of a new cycle of life. Likewise we too can begin our day with great enthusiasm for life for ourselves as people with new beginnings. We are in the walk of life as new persons who have been on the journey to becoming whole as an individual as well as a human been.
As an individual, I hope you have now realized that all begins and ends with you. You are the master of your life and your life only. Your responsibility is for your mind, body and soul. When I commenced this journey in Jan 2009 and I weighted in at 186.4, in all honesty I did not believe that 13 months later I would still be happy and enjoying this food regime still. It has had a lot of variety in it as I have changed from one regime to another. I have gone from juicing to boiling my vegetables and now been able to eat 6 meals a day.
One large one for breakfast starting with hot water with lemon and sip slowly and enjoy. Juicing my breakfast of 2 apples, 35 grams of muesli, 2 tablespoons of bio-live yoghurt and 2 tablespoons of mixed berries[ you can use the type of berries you like, I love the mixed berries and remember frozen is as good as fresh].
Juice the apples and pour the juice into a blender, then add the muesli, yoghurt, mixed berries and crushed ice. Now you have a choice. Blend as much as you like or as little. If you want it crunchy like I do then blend for a few seconds only until it is mixed and looks crunchy or if you want it smooth then blend for a few minutes.
Now enjoy breakfast. What a great start to the day.
Then at 11’s I have a ¼ of cantaloupe melon or some piece of fruit. It is your choice.
At lunch time it is my salad with no dressing sauces as these are the calorie jokers. The oils you use please check them thoroughly for calorific content. Here I have my avocado which is great for the body as well as my mixed salad leafs with peeled carrots, spring onions, red & yellow peppers and tomatoes. Finish off with a relaxing herbal cup of tea.
For 4’s have a delicious hot soup especially if it is still winter time. Use a parsnip, carrot, sweet potato, leek, courgette with vegetable stock cube and crushed black pepper. Add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Crunched black pepper.
Put the stock cube into a pint of hot water.
Cut and chop into chucks the vegetables and put into a large saucepan with the 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and allow sweating for 15 minutes, then adding the stock and seasoning, bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Now remove from heat and enjoy. You can also blend if you so desire again you have the choice.
For your dinner consider a lovely piece of fish [salmon, cod, sole, mackerel, and any good quality oiled fish] with steamed vegetables.
For my night time drink at 9 or 10pm either a juice or a smoothie but for myself I like a cup of camomile tea. Please read your juice manual that you take a night time juice or a smoothie that relaxes you down.
That is one day of my menus which I use to help me to maintain my weight loss and in making my life more enjoyable and I am very relaxed into the living better style and knowing I am taking responsibility for my body.
On ice I have found that by putting the ice lumps into a kitchen towel and then beating it with a kitchen mallet it breaks the ice into small pieces and thus helps the blender not to stall or come loose due to an ice cube blocking the blade from turning.
Going back to the beginning of this February report, I said a new beginning well also in Feb 2009 I began to see that I had to change my thinking. I had to start to love myself and to loose my embarrassment in speaking with family and friends over my obesity and in looking for there help to assist me by what ever means was possible at that time but also what applies to you in your journey be it encouragement, care and love.
My weight in at the hospital today was registered at 147.7 kilo. A grand lost of 38.7 kilo, 85 pounds, 6st-1lbs and try to remember that I am disabled and my mobility is very restricted and yet I have proved to myself and the world you can lose weight even by the minutest of changes in your daily life and eating habits.
